EdUHK Rises 124 Places
to 406th in QS World University Rankings 2027
Significant Advancement in Global Standing

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has achieved a significant advancement in the QS World University Rankings 2027 announced today (18 June), climbing 124 places to 406th globally - a substantial improvement from 530th in 2026 when the University first entered the rankings. In only its second year of participation, EdUHK now ranks within the top 30% of universities worldwide, underscoring its rapid progress in academic reputation, research performance and international standing.
In this ranking compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), EdUHK recorded notable gains in research, sustainability as well as academic and employer reputation, among QS’s nine key performance indicators spanning academic reputation, citations per faculty, employer reputation, employment outcomes, faculty-student ratio, and international faculty and student ratios. The results reflected EdUHK’s strategic commitment to excellence in scholarship, innovation and socially responsible development.
President of EdUHK Professor John Lee Chi-Kin was deeply encouraged by the ranking results, “Coming in the year that marks the 10th Anniversary of the University’s retitling, this milestone is particularly meaningful. EdUHK has achieved encouraging results in this year’s QS World University Rankings. This is a testament to the concerted and dedicated efforts of our Council, all our faculty, students, administrative team, alumni and partners, which once again reaffirm our outstanding performances across subject and Asia university rankings. By prioritising impactful research and embedding sustainability into our campus culture, the University aims to strengthen our global competitiveness, while contributing to the future of education in a rapidly changing world.”
This success builds on EdUHK’s recent milestones. In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, the University debuted at 195th globally, placing it in the top 10% of over 2,000 institutions and 6th in Hong Kong. Earlier this year, the University also attained its best-ever performance in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, ranking 7th worldwide and 2nd in Asia in Education.
Looking ahead, EdUHK will continue to advance its “Education Futures” vision, integrating sustainability into academic and operational strategies, diversifying its portfolio and contributing to society through world-class education, impactful research and meaningful engagement at the local, national and international levels.
