EdUHK Holds Awards Presentation Ceremony 2026
Honours Outstanding Student and Encourages Diverse Development

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) recently held the Award Presentation Ceremony for the President’s Commendation Scheme 2025/26, the Whole Person Development Awards - Dean of Students’ List, and a wide array of 2024/25 scholarships, honouring students who excelled in arts, sports, academia, community service and personal development. The event embodies the University’s strategic development of “Education Futures, Diverse Talents”.  

 

EdUHK awarded 780 scholarships totalling nearly HK$27 million in the 2024/25 academic year in recognition of their remarkable achievements across academic and other domains.

 

EdUHK Senior Management in attendance included President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Associate Vice President (Knowledge Transfer and Sustainability) Professor Ken Yung Kin-lam, Associate Vice President (Mainland Engagement and Development) and Director of Communications and Engagement Ms Helen Gai Huixia, Associate Vice President (Quality Assurance) Professor Susanna Yeung Siu-sze, Registrar Professor Eric Tsang Po-keung, and Dean of Students Professor Bill Yeung Chi-ho. EdUHK Foundation Board Member Dr Allen Shi Lop-tak, Council Student Member Ms Choy Wing-yan and scholarship donors and representatives also attended the ceremony.

 

Professor Lee extended his heartfelt congratulations to the awardees, “this year marks the 10th anniversary of EdUHK’s retitling, a milestone that reminds us of our enduring mission. The outstanding achievements of our students - in academics, sports and arts - exemplify perseverance and the pursuit of excellence, echoing the University’s core values of resilience, integrity, and passion for learning.” He encouraged all our students to keep striving, realise their potential, and to shape a brighter future for themselves and society.

 

Professor Lee also expressed gratitude for the longstanding support of the community. He emphasised that EdUHK will continue its joint effort with all sectors to nurture the next generation as role models and empower them to contribute to building a better world.

 

The President’s Commendation Scheme awards were presented by Professor Lee. The six recipients included:

Introduced in 2010/11, the President’s Commendation Scheme recognises students with distinguished achievements beyond academic studies, including arts and culture, community service, leadership, sports, as well as innovation, science and technology. Since its inception, nearly 160 students and groups have been honoured, underscoring EdUHK’s commitment to whole-person education. 

 

In addition, two students received the ‘Whole Person Development Awards – Dean of Students’ List’ for 2025/26. Professor Bill Yeung presented the awards, and praised the recipients for their courage to explore and willingness to embrace both academic studies and non-formal learning. He encouraged them to make good use of their strengths, break through boundaries, and shape their own futures.


To celebrate the inauguration of the "WEDSTAR Scholarship", the very first cohort of scholarship recipients attended an exchange session with the President of the Women Empowerment & Development Society in Asia-Africa (WEDS) and initiator of the Silk Road Happiness Fund, China Foundation for Peace and Development, Dr Zhao Meiling. Dr Zhao encouraged students to excel in their academic pursuits and serve as their Society's "Youth Ambassadors" to engage in global community service. The Vice-President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan also exhorted students to capitalise on the scholarship and grasp the opportunity to participate in international exchange programmes via the University's "Belt and Road" network, transforming their potential into meaningful social impact.
