EdUHK Signs MoU with Xinjiang University to Strengthen Collaboration with Countries along the Belt and Road Initiative

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) hosted a delegation from Xinjiang University (XJU) on 12 December and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to foster student and staff exchange between both institutions, deepen academic and research collaboration, and jointly enhance educational and cultural exchanges with countries in the Belt and Road Initiative.

 

The signing ceremony was held on EdUHK Tai Po campus. Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, EdUHK President and Professor Dai Bin, Party Committee Secretary of XJU signed the MoU on behalf of the universities. During the ceremony, the universities engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the direction of future collaboration, and made a joint commitment to collaboration between the institutions, which will help leverage the unique advantages of Hong Kong and Xinjiang, fostering connectivity in training talent and in the education sector.

 

Other distinguished guests at the ceremony were Professor Lo Sing-kai, EdUHK Associate Vice President (Internationalisation), Professor Michelle Gu Mingyue, Dean of the Graduate School, Mr Donny Siu Koon-ming, Director of Global Affairs; and Professor Li Jinyao, Director of Academic Affairs of XJU, Professor Wang Wenfeng, Dean of the Graduate School, Ms Lu Qingmei, Vice Director of International Exchange and Cooperation, and Dr Jin Rui, Vice Dean of the School of Chinese Language and Literature. 

 

The following day, the XJU delegation was invited to attend a cultural exchange event organised by the Faculty of Humanities (FHM) of EdUHK, entitled, "Hong Kong Meets Kazakhstan: A Humanities Cultural Crossroads within the Belt & Road".
