Dr Kevin Yung Awarded Senior Fellowship by Advance HE

Dr YUNG, Wai-ho Kelvin | Associate Professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction

Dr Kevin Yung Wai-ho, Associate Professor at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, The Education University of Hong Kong, has been awarded the title of Senior Fellow by Advance HE. This recognition highlights his outstanding leadership, influence, and sustained impact on professional practice in higher education teaching.

 

Dr Yung has showcased exemplary professional practice through his innovative 3C-model – Co-construction of knowledge, Critical dialogue, and Consolidation of knowledge. This transformative pedagogical framework has redefined the classroom experience, fostering academic excellence and equipping students with essential skills. By promoting active learning and continuous interaction, the 3C-model has been widely recognised and shared both locally and internationally.


In addition to his pedagogical innovations, Dr Yung has effectively harnessed technology to enhance teaching outcomes and address educational inequality. Notably, he has raised over HK$2.6 million through donations and Research Matching Grants, and led a group of undergraduate students to develop AI-enhanced learning resources for over 3,000 financially underprivileged students. 


Dr Yung expressed his gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank the University, the faculty and the department for their unwavering support. Education is about empowering students and teachers to reach their full potential in learning and teaching. Through innovative teaching and inclusive practices, we can make a meaningful difference.”

 

Advance HE is a British charity and professional membership scheme promoting excellence in higher education. It has published the Professional Standards Framework 2023, which recognises university teachers’ contributions to learning and teaching. The Senior Fellowship is awarded to professionals who have a proven and sustained track record in exceptional leadership, management, influence, and impact on their colleagues' and students' educational practices.
