EdUHK Students Lee Sze-wing and Leung Wing-yee Clinch Gold in Women’s Madison at National Games
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is delighted to announce that elite student athletes Lee Sze-wing and Leung Wing-yee won the gold medal today (16 November) in the Women’s Madison Track Cycling final at the 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China (National Games). This marks the fourth gold medal secured by EdUHK students at this year’s National Games.
Both Lee and Leung are students of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme at EdUHK. In the final, they demonstrated exceptional teamwork and composure, successfully outpacing their opponents to claim victory with a total score of 45 points. This is also Lee’s second gold medal at the 15th National Games, following her triumph in the Road Cycling (women's individual) race.
EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin conveyed his warmest congratulations to the two athletes on their remarkable achievement. He said, “This victory is not only a contest of skill and endurance, but also a testament to their composure and exceptional team spirit. They have brought honour to Hong Kong and EdUHK, and I could not be prouder. They truly exemplify the qualities of role models for our students and staff.”
EdUHK students have already secured gold medals in several events at the National Games. These include Cado Lee Ka-to, a student of the Master of Social Sciences in Sports Coaching and Management programme, who was part of the Hong Kong Men’s Rugby Sevens team. In addition, EdUHK Doctor of Education (Chinese) students Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi won gold last night in the Women's Duet (Technical Routine and Free Routine) of artistic swimming.
