EdUHK Hosts Employers’ Networking Tea Gathering to Strengthen University-Industry Collaboration
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) Student Affairs Office recently hosted the “EdUHK Tea-and-Meet Employers’ Networking Gathering”. The event aimed to promote exchange and collaboration between the University and industry, while providing a communication platform for students and employers. More than 60 employers, senior executives, and distinguished alumni from different sectors attended.
With the theme “Strive to Develop the Future”, participating employers included Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Hang Lung Management Services (HK) Ltd, New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and other renowned enterprises. Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, President of EdUHK; Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Vice President (Research and Development); and Professor Bill Yeung Chi-ho, Dean of Students, together with faculty members from various academic units, attended to show their support.
In his address, Professor Lee expressed gratitude to employers and partners for their support. He highlighted EdUHK’s outstanding performance in the 2026 QS World University Subject Rankings, with Education rising to 7th globally and 2nd in Asia. The University also made its debut in the Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences & Management rankings. Professor Lee emphasised that these achievements demonstrate EdUHK’s multidisciplinary strengths beyond education and reflect graduates’ ability to meet society’s diverse talent needs, in line with the University’s “Education Futures” approach.
In recent years, EdUHK has actively advanced curriculum and teaching innovation, launching a range of interdisciplinary programmes, including Artificial Intelligence and Educational Technology, Digital Chinese Culture and Communication, English Studies and Digital Communication, and Sociology and Community Studies. The University is dedicated to nurturing diverse talents equipped with future-ready skills, an international perspective, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
In the 2026/27 academic year, EdUHK will further expand its offerings with several new non-education postgraduate programmes, including New Media and Social Media, Science and Robotics Education, Educational Neuroscience, Educational Psychology, Occupational Therapy, National Security Law, Digital Human Resource Management and Organisational Marketing, Public Policy and Management, as well as Public Administration and Leadership.
“Whether enrolled in education or non-education programmes, students are able to integrate academic knowledge with problem-solving skills, communication skills, and professional networks nurtured by the University, laying a solid foundation for their future career and personal development”, he said. Professor Lee further expressed his hope that the Tea Gathering would enhance exchange between the University and industry, establish long-term internship and recruitment partnerships, and create more opportunities for the younger generation.
The event featured a Tea Toasting Ceremony and a student sharing session on internship experiences, enabling employers to gain deeper insights into students’ professional qualities and workplace competencies. Tea tasting and student performances created a relaxed atmosphere, fostering interaction among employers, staff, and students.
The gathering effectively strengthened EdUHK’s collaboration with industry partners, expanded connections with corporate leaders, and provided students with valuable professional networks, while enabling employers to gain direct insights into EdUHK’s diverse talent pool. EdUHK will continue to strengthen its ties with industry, academia, and the community to meet the evolving talent needs of Hong Kong and beyond.
