EdUHK Holds 2025 Graduation Ceremony cum Appointment of Elite Athlete Friendly University Ambassadors
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is holding its 2025 Graduation Ceremony on the Tai Po Campus between 19 and 22 November, conferring degrees on more than 5,700 graduates. Among them were the inaugural cohorts from the Academy for Educational Development and Innovation and the Academy of Applied Policy Studies and Education Futures, as well as 23 elite athlete students.
In his opening remarks, EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates, encouraging them to be bold in pursuing innovation, to embrace challenges, and to contribute to society with their professional knowledge and perseverance.
To recognise athletes who excel both academically and in sports, EdUHK appointed Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) graduates Doo Hoi-kem and Chan Yan-kit as ‘Elite Athlete Friendly University’ Ambassadors. Drawing on their dual-pathway experiences at EdUHK, the pair is expected to help advance the development of sports education.
Professor Lee added, “In today’s rapidly changing society, I hope all graduates, much like during a thrilling competition, will be resilient, bravely pursue their dreams, and embrace the future. May you excel in your respective professions, shine brightly, and contribute to building a better society and country, creating a bright future of your own.”
Doo Hoi-kem, a representative of the Hong Kong, China Table Tennis Team, won bronze in the Women’s Team event at the 2020 Olympic Games. Chan Yan-kit, Head Coach of the Hong Kong, China Para Badminton Team, led the team to a silver medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games. He has also received the Medal of Honour from the HKSAR Government and been named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons.
The two ambassadors expressed gratitude for the appointment and for EdUHK’s support of their studies and personal development. Doo Hoi-kem said, “As a full-time athlete, time management is essential. The flexible curriculum at EdUHK enabled me to balance both study and training, and successfully complete my degree. This learning journey will be an invaluable and beautiful memory in my life.”
Chan Yan-kit said, “Returning to campus after retirement, I hoped to enhance myself through continued education. EdUHK’s support has allowed me to balance my coaching duties with studies, while contributing to the development of sports in Hong Kong.”
