You and your representatives are cordially invited to cover the Third International Conference on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language organised by the Department of Chinese Language Studies and the Faculty of Humanities at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), the School of Chinese at the University of Hong Kong and Swarthmore College in the USA to be held this Saturday (24 June) at EdUHK. The conference will also celebrate the publication of an international journal by EdUHK and Columbia University.

Entitled International Journal of Chinese Language Education, the bilingual journal is jointly published by the Department of Chinese Language Studies at EdUHK, the Chinese Language Program at Columbia University and Chung Hwa Book Co. (H.K.) Ltd.

Experts, scholars and teachers from the United States, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, mainland China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong will meet at the conference to explore the current situation of, and innovations and developments in, Chinese teaching at the international level. Related issues in Chinese language teaching and International Baccalaureate or Advanced Placement courses will also be discussed.

Officiating at the Opening Ceremony will be Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of EdUHK, and Professor John Lee Chi-kin, Vice President (Academic) of EdUHK. The keynote speakers at the conference will be Professor Jin Hong-gang, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Macau, and Professor Liu Lening from the Chinese Language Program at Columbia University.
