Top Scientist Professor Wong Ming-hung Elected to Prestigious European Academy

Professor Wong Ming-hung, Advisor (Environmental Science) at the Department of Science and Environmental Studies, The Education University of Hong Kong, has been elected a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) in recognition of his sustained outstanding contributions to the field.

 

EASA is an international, non-governmental and non-profit organisation committed to promoting scientific and societal progress. It was founded in 1990, and its members are leading scientists, artists, and practitioners of governance who enjoy exceptional standing in society due to work performed, publications, or similar reasons. Among its 2,000 members, there are 36 Nobel laureates. 

 

Professor Wong’s research areas include environmental toxicology, ecological restoration, and resource reuse. He was ranked sixth in environmental sciences based on his career-long citation impact in the list of the world’s top 2% of scientists, published by Stanford University in 2020 and 2021. Stanford University also named Professor Wong among the top Chinese environmental scientists globally.

 

Professor Wong has published around 800 scientific papers (total citations and h-index: Scopus 40177 and 103; Google Scholar 60155 and 126). He is currently Editor-in-Chief of Environmental Geochemistry and Health, published by Springer Nature.

 

Before joining the University, Professor Wong was Chair Professor of Biology, Head of Biology Department, and Director of the Croucher Institute for Environmental Sciences at Hong Kong Baptist University.
