President Shares his Research Experience with Doctoral Students

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) attaches great importance to the nurturing of research talent. The past few years have witnessed a steady growth of research student population at the University, with over 300 doctoral students in Research Postgraduate and Doctor of Education programmes.

Despite the pandemic, the number of doctoral students enrolled for this academic year increased by almost 30% compared to 2019/20, with students coming from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ghana, India, Liberia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey, Vietnam, and other Belt and Road countries.

At the beginning of the new academic year, President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung welcomed these doctoral students, and shared his research experience and insights in the inaugural session of the “Chair Professor Lecture Series”. Apart from focusing on journal publications, Professor Cheung encouraged students to connect with the community by applying their expertise or academic output for societal development.

Organised by the Graduate School (GS), the “Chair Professor Lecture Series” provides a platform to connect senior and junior researchers for a research community at the University. More senior professors will be invited to share their research experience and expertise with students. Professor Jim Chi-yung, Research Chair Professor of Geography & Environmental Science, will be the next speaker of the series.
