EdUHK Organises Charity Film Show to Support Student Development
On 9 April 2021, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and Wofoo Social Enterprises held a charity event presenting the film I Still Remember. Proceeds from the event went to support the “Shi-Tu Scheme”, scholarships for students with high performance in sports and field experience, and EdUHK Foundation.
The event was attended by Dr David Wong Yau-kar, EdUHK Council Chairman and Chairman of EdUHK Foundation; Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, EdUHK President; Ms Christina Lee, Director of Wofoo Social Enterprises; gold sponsor Dr Adam Lee Yat-keung; bronze sponsor Dr Anthony Chow Wing-kin; and more than 200 friends and supporters of the University, including leading figures in the education and the sports sectors, staff members, alumni and students.
Professor Cheung said, “The teacher-student relationship in this film is similar to those at EdUHK. Our teachers and students are close to each other in carrying education forward to the next generation.”
Guests and attendees were impressed by the film’s storyline. “I hope everyone bears in mind that there is someone to support them, and they should afford the same generosity to their friends and elders,” said Mr Lik Ho, the film’s director and screenwriter.
After the film, a sharing session was moderated by alumna Connie Ho Ka-lai. During this session, Dr Li Chung, Adjunct Professor at the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) of EdUHK and alumni Lau Ka-chun and Yan Siu-kang, talked about their long teacher-student relationship. Mr Lau and Mr Yan described how Dr Li has inspired them in life, persistence and staying positive; all of which impact on their teaching today. They wished all current teachers and pre-service teachers could shine in their roles and keep a warm and sincere heart.
