Professor John Lee Chi-Kin congratulated the newly appointed executive members and expressed gratitude to the alumni for their active participation in EdUHK activities. He noted that this inauguration ceremony was a valuable occasion to reconnect with more than a hundred mainland alumni and students, following the reunion gatherings in Shenzhen and Shanghai last year. “Many EdUHK alumni have become educators, nurturing talent for society, while others shine in diverse fields. I hope everyone will continue to support their alma mater, strengthen the alumni network, and cultivate more professionals for society and a nation,” he remarked. Professor Lee also acknowledged the EdUHK Mainland Alumni Association for their steadfast support in advancing the University’s development.
Mr Cai Chan-yeung, EdUHK Mainland Alumni Association Chairperson, reflected on the association's work and achievements, as well as outlined future goals. “The Association is dedicated to uniting alumni and fostering a dynamic platform for engagement. The new executive committee members will, as always, contribute to EdUHK’s development by leveraging the strength of alumni,” he said.
At the inauguration ceremony, Mr Cai presented certificates of appointment to the new executive committee members and conducted an oath-taking ceremony; he also presented certificates of appointment to the new honorary advisors and advisors together with Professor Eddie Ng and Hon Chu Kwok-keung. In addition, two EdUHK Mainland Alumni Association Vice-Chairpersons Mr Wang Hao and Ms Li Xuejiao presented certificates of appreciation to event sponsors.
The choir, conducted by Mr Zeng Qiujian, EdUHK Mainland Alumni Association Secretary-General as well as Artistic Director and Head of the Hong Kong Cantonese Orchestra, sang ‘My Motherland and I’, which enabled the audience and alumni to enjoy the warm atmosphere.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the Mainland Alumni Association convened a forum, allowing alumni from various backgrounds to exchange job-seeking tips in the education sector, with Hon Chu Kwok-keung, Legislative Council Member, as one of the alumni speakers. They exchanged insights on career development strategies and emerging trends in education, providing attendees with practical guidance for career planning.
The EdUHK Mainland Alumni Association was founded by the EdUHK alumni from mainland China with the mission of uniting mainland alumni and strengthen their ties with their alma mater. It also promotes and facilitates Hong Kong alumni's understanding of the development of the mainland, as well as to build a medium for the exchange of education and talents between Hong Kong and mainland China.
