EdUHK Hosts RGC Visit: Panel Chairs Share Grant Insights

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) hosted a visit by the Research Grants Council (RGC) on 12 June. The purpose of the visit was to enable senior members of RGC to gain a deeper understanding of the University’s new Education Futures approach and its latest research development, while also serving as a valuable platform for collegial exchanges between the RGC visiting party and EdUHK community.

The programme commenced with an introductory session, during which Professor Timothy Tong Wai-cheung, Chairman of RGC, welcomed all participants.

EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin then explained the University’s strategic priorities and gave an overview of its research. Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Vice-President (Research and Development), offered further insights to RGC panel members into EdUHK’s major research strategies, achievements, and impact.

Throughout the visit, various tours and group meetings facilitated fruitful interaction between RGC members and our Research Postgraduate students and faculty members.

In the afternoon, an RGC Forum took place to enhance communication between the RGC panels and front-line researchers at eight UGC-funded universities. Panel chairs and members shared valuable observations on the assessment of RGC grant proposals with more than 400 guests in attendance, including the Acting Secretary for Education, Dr Jeff Sze Chun-fai.

EdUHK extends its heartful appreciation to the UGC and RGC for their unwavering support throughout this visit.
