EdUHK Excellent Supporting Teacher Award Ceremony
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held its 8th Excellent Supporting Teacher Award Ceremony on 3 March 2023 to recognise the contribution of supporting teachers in guiding and inspiring the University’s prospective teachers. The event also highlighted the important role the former play as positive role models for future educators. This year, 126 Excellent Supporting Teachers were selected by EdUHK’s prospective teachers and school principals.
Speaking at the ceremony, EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung congratulated all awardees and acknowledged their contribution in support of the education profession by helping student teachers. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to all school sponsoring bodies and school principals for their unfailing support in the University’s field experience, especially in continuing to provide learning opportunities and field experience support during the pandemic.
During the talk, Ms Wong Shuk-fan principal of Holy Cross Lutheran School, Ms Lau Suet-ying from The Education University of Hong Kong Jockey Club Primary School, Ms Liu Man-yu from St. Antonius Girls’ College and EdUHK alumna Tam Leung-wai spoke of the support they offered to student teachers during their field experience. In addition, Mr Albert So Man-kit, Chairman of Hong Kong Mediation and Arbitration Centre, delivered a keynote speech entitled ‘Practical Legal Knowledge in School’ using different case studies.
Professor John Lee Chi-kin, Vice President (Academic) and Provost, expressed his appreciation to the awardees for their passion for learning and teaching. Professor Lee encouraged prospective teachers to uphold the professional conduct required of them and continue to strive towards the mission of nurturing future generations.
EdUHK has been organising the Excellent Supporting Teacher Nomination Scheme since 2014/15. Over the years, a thousand supporting teachers have received awards altogether.
