The rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 infections in Hong Kong has presented the cleaning team at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) with exceptional challenges. They have been working extra hours to safeguard the health of our colleagues, students and campus users during this difficult time for over two consecutive years. The University is very grateful to them for their professionalism, determination and sheer hard work.

“To better protect the university community which is our top priority at this moment, we have deployed additional manpower and increased our efforts to ensure campus hygiene during and after office hours; in particular the student halls, Library, the Learning Commons, toilets and lifts. The University has also purchased different types of personal protective equipment, electrostatic sprayers and sufficient sterilisation agents and devices to help our frontline team perform the ever-increasing disinfection tasks more effectively and efficiently,” said Mr Lau Wai-tat, Director of Estates at EdUHK. Meanwhile, Estates Office has further stepped up health and safety measures for the Tseung Kwan O Study Centre and all offices, as well as the U-Shuttles, and staff and student buses, even if this has meant working at night and during holidays. This is to prevent transmission across the university community and mitigate any secondary impact.

The University is also extremely grateful to those who have also been working round the clock to keep our campus safe, and will continue to closely monitor the COVID pandemic situation and take the necessary actions.
