Dr Hung Keung, Associate Professor at Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, The Education University of Hong Kong, received the Artist of the Year (Media Art) award at The 15th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards Presentation Ceremony held in May 2021.

Dr Hung is committed to promoting the development of media art in Hong Kong and overseas. He has been making experimental short films and videos since 1995, and also does research and development into new media arts and interactive technology. 

“I am honoured to have received this prestigious award,” he said. “With the emergence of technologies and interactive applications, new media has become more mainstream in art presentation. I am happy to see that there is more new and creative talent getting involved in the field, which is vital to the development of media art in Hong Kong.” 

Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards is an annual flagship event in the local arts scene. It aims to give formal recognition to distinguished arts practitioners, up-and-coming artists with outstanding achievements, individual, groups and organisations that have actively supported and participated in arts events, education and promotion.
