A five-student team “Foodster” at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) won the championship of the EdUHK-SCMP Innovative and Education Challenge held in June 2019. Its business plan beat the other four contestant teams and impressed the judges with a self-designed app which allows people to buy unsold food from shops at a lower price with an aim to tackle the food waste problem.

The competition aims to encourage EdUHK students and alumni to transform their innovative ideas into entrepreneurial start-ups. To promote entrepreneurship and innovation in education, the EdUHK Library has set up a 24-hour “Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub” to provide 24-hour office spaces with various facilities for students to carry out projects and/or start their own businesses.
