Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF) Research and Development (R&D) Projects

Research and Development (R&D) Projects under ECF aim to encourage policy and technical studies for technology development and adoption of the project results, as well as knowledge exchanges through conferences, thereby promoting environmental protection and nature conservation.
 
The projects cover three types of projects, namely research projects, technology development and demonstration projects, and conference projects.
 
(1) Research projects should contribute to academic advancement in the field of environmental improvement and conversation of the local environment, and should not be too theoretical in nature.
 
(2) Technology development and demonstration projects should contribute in a direct and practical way towards environmental improvement and conservation of the local environment. They may include the introduction, development and demonstration of new technologies.
 
(3) Conference projects should be green and sustainable in nature, and facilitate exchange of best practices, expertise and experience in environmental protection and conservation, aiming to raise Hong Kong’s profile as a leading green city.

Green Tech Fund (GTF)

The Green Tech Fund (GTF) was established in 2020 to provide better and more focused funding support to research and development projects which can help Hong Kong decarbonise and enhance environmental protection. A total of $400 million has been allocated to the GTF.
